Overnight ratings for Sunday’s telecast of Super Bowl on CBS earned a 50.6 average for WDJT-TV (Channel 58). That was higher than the national overnight rating of 49.

Local ratings grew throughout the course of the game peaking at 55.4 in the closing moments.

Overnight ratings are preliminary. In Sunday’s game the Denver Broncos upset the Carolina Panthers, 24 to 10. A local rating point is the equivalent of 8,822 television homes.

The national overnight rating was the second highest ever for a Super Bowl game, beating last year’s rating of 49.7 on NBC, according to MediaLife magazine.

The local rating however was slightly lower than last year’s average of 52.3 on WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) .

Ah– But finally this madness is over– for a while.

Highly over-paid “athletes”, some of whom are gun toting thugs that beat up their wives, girl-friends, children and dogs– all to enhance their macho image. They play in subsidized (Socialist) stadiums with a following that exceeds the frenzy of many religious cults. Some players are doomed to concussion-caused permanent brain damage– but who cares– this is all entertainment for the masses.

Millions of $$$$$’s for NFL football— pennies for cancer cure research.

But soon the “March Madness” begins, and the frenzy continues.
