All Christmas Music WRIT Gets Ratings Gift

Only in the world of radio are there 13 months.

How? If every month had 28 days, 364 days would be the equivalent of 13 months. That’s how.

So not only is there a December ratings book, and a January ratings book – there is a holiday ratings survey conducted between them.

The results of that survey for the Milwaukee area are below.

They show that the all Christmas music format on WRIT-FM earned a huge rating, up 5.6 share points from, um, December to 14.4.

The Christmas book, as it is called measures listening Dec. 3 through 30th.

WRIT Tops Holiday Radio Ratings For Milwaukee

Neither rain nor sleet nor hail, or a combination of all three, can keep A. C. Nielsen from releasing the Milwaukee holiday radio ratings for December.

The ratings are courtesy of the radio industry report Tom Taylor Now. They appear below analysis free.

Except to say: Winners appear to be WKLH, up 1.0 share, and WTMJ, up .8.

Losers include country music WMIL down 1.1 share point and WISN, down .9.

And Christmas music on WRIT did not gain it any audience, or lose any.

The ratings, provided by industry newsletter Tom Taylor Now, represent a percentage of those listening to radio who are listening to a station in an average-quarter hour and measure listening by total audience, 6 years and older.

WRIT-FM Begins Continuous Christmas Music

With Amy Grant singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” oldies station WRIT-FM became the first, and will probably remain the only, Milwaukee radio station to play continuous Christmas music.

The station’s format change coincided with the lighting of the Christmas tree in downtown Milwaukee.

Until recently it shared the holiday music format with other stations, some of which switched as early as Nov. 1.

But WMYX-FM did not switch to the format last year, preferring to mix Christmas music in with the regular format.

“Big” Changes At Top Rated Oldies Station WRIT-FM

Posted by
big

In a surprising move WRIT-FM (95.7), the top-rated radio station in Milwaukee, is changing from Oldies 95.7 to Big FM.

The station posted a video by the morning team of Murphy and Meg  explaining the changes on its new Facebook page.

“But don’t worry,” says Meg, the station “will still be playing the music you love.”

In an email confirming the change, program director Brett Andrews said:

Yes, we’ve re-branded Oldies 95.7 as 95-7 BIG FM. We’ve become the BIGGEST radio station the Milwaukee market, and simply needed a name that better represented the evolution of the station. The music, line-up of local personalities, and overall format remain the same, we’ve simply gotten BIGGER.
